Properties beginning with dollar sign not handled correctly

There is a disconnect between the query parser and the path syntax parser in that a path can optionally start with a dollar sign, but that must be followed by a period.  In the case where it is omitted, and the property name starts with a dollar sign the parsing of the path fails because it thinks another path is being started.  The Query parser needs to detect the dollar sign and escape it.
