Description
Small companies would like a hosted cloud solution. For various reasons , Couchbase has tabled the decision to support DBaaS. So this issue isn't for a DBaaS.
However we need a transition plan for users who are relying on Cloudant who have expressed concerns migrating to CBM 2.0 because of incompatibility with CouchDB (since they are relying on Cloudant ). They are looking to moving to 2.0 but are wary of self hosting (no dev ops teams) .
One specific company was using IBM’s Cloudant platform and were spending 30K /year for the hosting service (https://www.ibm.com/analytics/us/en/technology/cloud-data-services/cloudant/) . In fact, this company is so keen on this that they also offered to be a partner for hosting cloud solution for couchbase.
So for companies who are willing to pay for support -
1) What level of support can we provide to ease the transition from a DBaaS solution to a self hosted solution
2) Can we help when the servers go down for instance
3) Pricing models
