View creation page lacks information to create a view

The view creation page lacks some basic information to allow a first time user to create a mapReduce view. If this is a supported feature of the product I would expect the guidance to be more comprehensive. Some of the concepts missing were:

Design documents and what they are
What development views or production views are.
How to create a development view or Spatial view
What any of the Filter Results parameters are or what they do
Examples and best practice on how to write views and combine views within design documents.
