    Description

Running a cbtransfer fails when source cluster is running Couchbase 1.8.x and target is running Couchbase 2.x with error message
error: SASL auth failed: <source_cluster>:11210, user: <bucket_name>

I believe that the cram-md5 SASL authentication feature was added in 2.2, and the older 1.8 cluster doesn't support this authentication method. A patch has been created @ http://review.couchbase.org/#/c/34947

A backwards compatible authentication layer is required for a future release.
