inexplicable constant CPU use on single node

    Description

      I have a single-node system which has some reporting data. The items are quite large. The memcached process has recently taken to having 4 nearly runaway threads with no application workload on the system at all. Also, my data loads can't be done reliably. Loading large items (100s of KByte) will take longer than 60s.

      Note that currently swappiness and THP aren't set as recommended, but they were before a reboot.
