Fascinating. Pretty clear, at least for the master buckets, how Sean's doing the move : ).
One thing that would be really interesting to watch in "real time" over some longer duration would be a histogram showing which vBuckets were being "hit" with operations. Would be cool to be able to then "drill down" on that vbucket and see a histogram of the key space inside that vBucket and show which keys were being hit. Eventually this information could be used to split vBuckets intelligently where for some reason a bunch of hot keys are all getting hashed to a given vBucket.

Sean (or somebody) mentioned heatmaps on Friday, and I thought it was a Good Idea as a change of pace from too much C code.
