confusing error when trying to create dev view with a name that's already used by spatial view

• create spatial view dev_test/test
• try creating regular view dev_test/test
• the error is shown:

  A design document may only contain mapreduce or spatial views

The root cause for this is that our "Create Development (Spatial) View" buttons actually allow adding views to existing design documents. Do we actually want to have this behavior?
