GO_DEFAULT_VERSION is still 1.5.2, which is now quite old, and several components still use it. Rather than just bumping that default, I think it would make more sense to eliminate the "default" and ensure that all GoInstall() targets use explicit GOVERSION arguments. That means that all product owners will know and control what version they are using explicitly.
