When using the Enterprise Backup tool, cbbackupmgr, if 2 backups are taken long enough apart in time, 2 full backups will be taken.
There is no logical/sane strategy to merge to full backup points, the newer point simply supersedes the older point.
As such cbbackupmgr merge should detect the two backup points that are being merged are both full or "standalone" points and delete the first. Preferably, this would be controllable programatically or at least with a prompt to avoid inadvertent erasure.
