    Description

      A recent customer request:
-How do I specify Couchbase to identify itself as a specific IP address on a multi-homed server?

      Support response:
      http://www.couchbase.com/docs/couchbase-manual-1.8/couchbase-bestpractice-cloud-ip.html

      Customer:
-Do I always have to use a hostname?

      Docuemtation update:
Ammend the above page to make it clear that an IP address can optionally take the place of a hostname.

      Further action:
It might make sense to split this information our or refer to it from another area since this particular request was not related to "cloud" but rather just controlling the IP address which a Couchbase node refers to itself as. As a technical note, please do not use the wording "Couchbase 'listens' on an IP address" because in fact, it technically listens on all interfaces. The above steps are simply to control which IP address a node represents itself with to other nodes and to clients.
