Failure to add node to a server referenced with hostname

      Description

      Install 2.0.0-1976-rel on a single node
      Change the hostname as mentioned in the steps http://www.couchbase.com/docs/couchbase-manual-2.0/couchbase-bestpractice-cloud-ip.html
      Add another node.

      Error is returned. See screenshot.

        You seem to be doing it wrong. Apparently machine that you're speaking to is unable to resolve short hostname.

        Plus be aware that tools team have recently changed a way this works.

        the vm names are caper-001 and caper-002

        No. It's depends on environment. Ssh to one box and make sure it resolves other by name. I.e. ping <othername>.

        Most likely it won't work. You'll need to setup some sort of dns to make it work.

        i can ping both vms from outside but these vms can not ping each other by hostname

        couchbase server needs fully qualified hostnames to be set and configured in DNS. Otherwise its giving error:

        =ERROR REPORT==== 30-Jan-2013::03:31:27 ===

          • System running to use fully qualified hostnames **
          • Hostname caper-002 is illegal **

        Abhinav is able to run the same stuff on EC2 as we have fully qualified hostnames there..
