Description
There is an image on this page:
http://www.couchbase.com/docs/couchbase-manual-2.0/couchbase-views-operation-cluster.html
The drawing doesn't make sense to me. The colors show that 3 nodes have local results, and 2 nodes have remote results. I'm not sure what that means. As I understand it, the client will connect to one of the nodes. Only that node will be "local" results, all other nodes will be remote.
Maybe I misunderstand the point of the picture, in which case the explaining text probably should be improved.
=============
Image of Remote/Local View Results doesn't make sense
Introduces idea of Remote and Local Results and does not explain, or define.
Tim: thinks local are results at node that receives a query and remote are all the parts of a result set that live at other nodes.
=========
Very confusing:
-Too many bullet point and no content to tie points together
-Passive tense
-Talks about full or eventual consistency without explaining what it means
-Talks about consistent views, without explaining
===============
Suggestions:
Group discusion into
-Query time within cluster - data spread out and request coordinated with peer nodes by node that recieves query.
-Replication of indexes
-During rebalance: leverage existing content in 2.0 release note explaining "consistent query results on rebalance" which means you get the same results on rebalance as if no rebalance occurring.
-Introduce idea of partial results = when a node down
-Introduce enabling indexing of replicate data as an option (but costly too)
