Discussion: Make Options consistent - use either properties or methods

There is quite a bit of inconsistency in the options structs for the various methods; some use properties and some use methods. This ticket is to discuss if we should use only methods or only properties (not always feasible) or allow both. It would nice to get some collective opinions here, make a decision and then implement before DP1 if possible.
