Create pluggable compression infrastructure

Create an infrastructure within the SDK for plugging in compression libraries. This will support the use of different Snappy compression libraries with different performance profiles depending on the platform in use. It should also be designed with the idea that there may be compression algorithms other than Snappy at some point in the future, just in case.
