Android replicator appears to hang after a few minutes: Root cause

Description

Continuous pull replication stops working after 5 minutes of the device sitting idle.

The device is currently using CouchbaseLite 2.8.1 for Android, but has happened with CouchbaseLite 2.7.0 for Android as well.
