Major Description
Although we may wish to consider presenting collated stats across a cluster as part of an MDS services API (e.g. http://CB:8099/stats), if we're continuing to support the _expvars endpoint we should look into making this more user friendly. In particular, stats have previously been added for the purposes of debugging which may not apply to monitoring an ongoing deployment, and as I understand it the inclusion of memory stats incurres a large overhead every time this endpoint is called.
Perhaps if/when we're pushing stats to a central MDS service, it would make sense to expose a snapshot of the same stats for each specific Sync Gateway via a new endpoint local to that Sync Gateway for end users who want to monitor these. This would correlate quite nicely with the point-in-time cbstats that Couchbase Server offers, specific to each node, alongside the collated stats from the Cluster Manager.
