    Description

      Now that Go 1.18 is released, go 1.16 is no longer supported. Even if we don't need to take advantage of any of the new features, we should upgrade to a supported version.

      If we don't need any of 1.18's features yet, we may wish to stay on 1.17 just because it's more mature.
