sync gateway sync function: access function can grant access to non existent roles/users

I noticed in the documentation that the role function notes that you can access roles to non existent roles https://docs.couchbase.com/sync-gateway/current/sync-function-api-role-cmd.html#context  but access https://docs.couchbase.com/sync-gateway/current/sync-function.html#lbl-access has a similar behavior and it does not note that assigning to a non existent user or a role.

When the role/user is created, the previously granted access will apply to the new role/user.
