    Description

A customer had recently been asking questions about the usage of remote links between clusters, where the clusters are in different versions.

Through a conversation with a member of the Analytics Team (Michael Blow), I found that so long as the source cluster or destination where the data is coming from, is either the same version, or using an older version than the destination cluster, all should be fine.

E.g. If the source cluster is in 7.1.5, and the destination cluster is in 7.2.2, then the Analytics link should work as expected.

However, conversely, the case where the source cluster is using a newer version than the destination cluster has not been tested by QE, so it is not explicitly supported.

E.g. If the source cluster is in 7.2.2, and the destination cluster is in 7.1.5, then the Analytics link would be expected to not work.

However, despite the lack of testing from QE, it has been said that it "probably works" but would advise customers to not try it until we test it fully.
