As a frame of reference, the minimum requirements for either one of these is dual-core/4GB RAM. If you choose to use both during development, you will need at least a quad-core machine.

Whether hosting on-premise, or in the cloud, you will want to have your Sync Gateway and Couchbase Server sit closely to each other for optimal performance between these two systems. They can share the same physical machine as long their recommended supported hardware requirements are met:
