Description
Page: https://docs.couchbase.com/server/current/install/migration.html
The current page that documents how to change a bucket's conflict resolution type needs to be updated.
- It is too version-specific.
- Timestamp resolution was introduced in 4.6, but these instructions work for changing the conflict resolution irrespective of version.
- To this day, buckets cannot change conflict resolution after being created. So any mention of 4.6 is essentially meaningless. You could possibly say: "Timestamp-based resolution was introduced in Couchbase Server 4.6. To use this conflict resolution type with existing data, follow the steps on this page to migrate your data to new buckets."
- The file name is too generic.
- The current filename is migration.adoc. The URL might make you think this is the master topic for all types of migration, including migration to Couchbase from some other type of database. Something closer to change-conflict-resolution.adoc would probably be more appropriate.
- The page title is misleading enough to be considered incorrect.
- The current title is "Enabling Timestamp-based Conflict Resolution for Migrated Data". This doesn't really communicate the topic well. It should be something closer to "Changing the Conflict Resolution of Existing Data".
- It is miscategorized in the nav.
- As cited in https://issues.couchbase.com/browse/CBSE-3828?focusedCommentId=219552&page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel#comment-219552 this topic too hard to find. It should be with other XDCR topics.
There are also CBSE-5486 and CBSE-5854 which are calling for a new method of changing conflict resolution. These should be monitored in case there are new things to document on this issue.
