Workbench UI: After triggering "query too large" message, "executing query" not shown for next query

I triggered the "query too large" message referenced in MB-18057 and when I applied a limit to the same query and re-ran, I never saw the "executing query" message, rather the "query too large" message stayed up until the query finished and the results were shown.
