EXPLAIN statement errs in Query Workbench, succeeds in cbq

The following EXPLAIN returns an error in the Query Workbench UI, but returns normally in cbq. See attached graphics.

EXPLAIN
SELECT name, population
FROM couchmusic2
WHERE population >= 1000000 AND population <= 5000000
AND type = "country"
ORDER BY population DESC;
