Ensure proper deletion when encountering an expired object

    Description

      If an object is requested that is expired, the code should effectively follow the deletion path:

      • the item should be removed from memory
      • a request should be enqueued to delete it from the DB
      • tap clients should note that it no longer exists

      This should take effect in client requests, item pager, and tap backfill.
