Description
As we now support systemd we should take out the old System V init.d scripts. This now supported on all the latest Linux versions that we have pre-packaged binaries for: CentOS 7+, Ubuntu 16+, SUSE 12+.
Multiple reasons: we'd prefer to support fewer ways of integrating with the init system than more, we don't want to have to keep these ways in sync and the old System V way has bugs (notably the pid file doesn't get removed on shutdown.)
