Critical Description
When we mount the archive we remove any unfinished merge files if the merge is deemed to have failed. This is the correct behavior, but we are checking the lock file, which is used to make sure we don't have two backup processes running on the same archive, after we do this. As a result it's possible that a current backup is doing a merge and another one comes and deletes it's merge files.
