Description From Sean Lynch 2010-10-11 07:04:31 [reply] Private

Right now if you have data in a bucket it can take quite a while to delete it.
Flush does not work because it's propagated over tap connections and can
delete your data on other nodes.

I need a way to tell the bucket engine and EP engine to shut down a bucket
without bothering to try to save any data.

I think Chiyoung is working on this.

Further, we need to destroy it to the point that I can delete the files and
recreate it. Right now, even if I wait until after the bucket delete command
returns to delete the files, they are frequently resurrected.

Actually, that's a lie; I'm deleting the files when the bucket is recreated
from the UI, which doesn't have to wait for the old one to shut down.

I'll call delete from ns_memcached after the delete command returns.

The fix to this issue will require some small changes in the engine APIs. We're
going to have a design review for this fast server shutdown tomorrow.

Any update on this bug? Customers on the forum are running into it...

      Perry,

I will work on it ASAP after doing the design review for this tomorrow. This
fix won't take much time as it doesn't require lots of code changes.
