writing signature and metrics takes 10% of cpu profiling

In a recent cpu profiling for Q1, I have noticed that writing the results prefix and suffix takes 5secs each out of 100secs tracked in profile.
The worse offenders are signature (marshals the signature) and metrics(sprintf takes about 2 seconds).
We could probably use WriteJSON for the signature and fprintf for the metrics.
