Flush failed with unexpected error is not very helpful

Sometimes when flushing a bucket (seems to be when the bucket is in pending state) the server responds with a 500 error and body of `{"_":"Flush failed with unexpected error. Check server logs for details."}`. From a developer POV this isn't a hugely helpful error message. If possible it'd be good to return an error with a bit more information.
