This is now a pathfinding issue to provide support for .NET 6.0 which has LTS.
The current .NET Framework which has LTS and our SDK support is .NET Core 3.1 which has end of life as of December 2022

Note that .NET 6 has been released so this will now be a pathfinding ticket (that may transition into doing the work - or perhap be split up - depending on scope of work).
