We currently say that altering the default log paths are no supported:

Customers with stringent security requirements need logs on specific locations, rather than leave them on the default mount.
There are known issues which are known when people have mucked with the static config. e.g.
Need to consider one or more of the following:
a. Say that the changes are NOT supported, but if the customers must a sym-link is OK. They will have to re-create the symlink on every upgrade.
b. Allow customers to make the change, we need to test the changes and fix the issue we are seeing
c. Get to a centralized logging framework across all components (long term) which can consistently manage this.
