Description
There are quite a number of cases where it's desirable to run the following configuration of Couchbase Server:
- Server Group 1
- Some combination of KV, Indexing, Query, etc nodes
- Server Group 2
- Some combination of KV, Indexing, Query, etc nodes
- Server Group 3
- Single modestly provisioned node running a service that's not actually needed for the deployment
The idea is that if server group 1 or 2 fails, the combination of the surviving server group plus the node in server group 3 constitute a majority in the cluster and allows the failover of the entire down server group.
With the completion of the work required for this ticket:
- MB-55577: Stand up node without any services
Explicit support for deployment of this kind of configuration becomes more desirable.
